Dual-Channel Flow Chamber with Customized Membrane for Barrier and Co-Culture Models

This advanced flow chamber is a macrofluidic evolution of conventional microfluidic chips, designed to enable barrier modeling at a larger scale while supporting complex downstream analyses. It features a dual-channel system separated by a porous membrane, ideal for simulating physiological barriers such as maternal-fetal interfaces, kidney filtration units or intestinal uptake of nutrients, blood-tumor surface.

Technical Features:

  • Top and bottom flow channels separated by a semipermeable membrane/hydrogel
  • Larger cell culture surface area compared to standard chips, ideal for molecular analysis (omics approaches)
  • Equipped with an openable design for easy cell seeding and harvesting
  • Suitable for co-culture of different cell types (e.g., endothelial + epithelial)
  • Designed to model dynamic physiological barriers
  • Modular and adaptable to various organ models
  • Made from inert Teflon for compatibility and reusability

Applications:

  • BioBarrier simulations (placenta, kidney, lung, intestine, skin)
  • Transport and permeability studies
  • Cell–cell interaction experiments (e.g., immune–epithelial)
  • Toxicology and pharmacokinetics research focusing on membrane transport
  • Dual-compartment analysis for toxicity and interaction studies, enabling simultaneous assessment of cross-membrane effects and cell–cell responses
